We created a retro-80's style video highlighting the 3M Science in the car. The video and our appearances on national media during #BTTFDAY garnered 85,105,305 on 31 media placements and 48,731,400 total social impressions.

BACK TO THE FUTURE DAY

A program designed to generate buzz about 3M using a highly-visible pop culture moment - 30th anniversary of the day Marty McFly traveled to the future - to create an authentic connection with our targeted audiences via social and earned media. To do so by partnering with internal business groups to showcase the breadth and depth of our automotive capabilities and products.

Wrapping the DeLorean with gold wrap film was a great way to celebrate the 30th anniversary to make a one-of-a-kind Delorean and highlight 3M’s leadership role in the Automotive industry. There are less than 10,000 DeLoreans – three of which were gold-plated. We made 4th gold DeLorean to make it even more iconic.

 

Our goal was to highlight 3M as a leader in the 3M Automotive Industry (in the factory, in the dealership, in the body shops & repair centers, in your driveway, and, on the road and in your car). We got media outlets to write about our great products & impact on the Automotive industry and to get them excited about writing more about us.
